When it comes to inserting your new barb into your hydraulic hose attention to detail is needed. The barb insert needs to be inserted correctly or braking performance is affected. The aim with a barb and olive when connecting to either the front or rear brake lever is to form a perfect seal. The Corki Cycles hydraulic hose insert tool is compatible with standard or torqued needles. This includes all press-in-style hose barbs.

To use press the barb a few millimeters into the hydraulic brake hose end. Attach the barb to the end of the Corki Cycles needle insertion tool. Clamp the hydraulic hose and tighten it. Screw the needle tool slowly inserting the barb fully into the hydraulic hose. When fully inserted, unclamp the hose and slide the barb off the needle tool. Inspect the insertion ensuring the hose end is completely sealed by the barb. Add the olive and connect to your brake lever.
